Organize Your Job Search with a Job Search Log

Jobsearchlog

As you go through the process of applying for jobs, it's easy to lose track of your progress. But you need to stay on top of where you've applied, what stage of the process you're in, etc. in order to keep your job search moving.

A job search log is a great way to keep track of all of your job search activities. With it, you can monitor the status of your applications and identify what next steps you need to take with each prospective employer.

Here are a couple of logs you can review to see which one works best for you.
  • BrightHub Excel Spreadsheet--Download this spreadsheet and use it to keep track of your job search activities, websites, networking contacts, etc.
  • Job Search Log Template--This is a template that can be used in Google Drive. Note that there are sheets for keeping track of interviews and websites as well. Access these in the bottom left of the template.
You may also want to try JibberJobber, a website that helps you organize your company research, job search documents and activities.  The free version will work for most people, although they have paid versions as well.
